Londonderry, NH, May 26, 2006 – Laurier Inc., introduces the CS1250 high speed die sorter for WLCSP and other flip chip devices, for pick and place to tape reel. The CS1250 is a completely new system from Laurier. It was developed based upon the process knowledge gained from our broad base of installed tape reel machines. The CS1250 utilized the latest technologies for robotic motion control and vision inspection, integrated into a robust user friendly system specifically designed for the demanding production environment. The compact and precise pick and flip mechanisms can transfer die to tape reel at more than 12000 parts per hour, while performing full inspection at every step of the process. The unique design of the robotic head allows inspection of the active surface of the die after flipping. This ensures the quality of the part before placement. Parts are fully inspected before picking and before placement to the tape pocket. After a good part is placed to the tape pocket, it is further inspected for mechanical quality, laser ID, and position in the tape pocket. Any part that fails is automatically removed to a reject bin. A new part is then inserted into the tape pocket and the backside inspection process is repeated. As a final check, a post tape seal inspection is performed. Each part is examined to ensure that it is still flat in the pocket and that the position of the cover tape is within specification. A simple to use single touch monitor screen makes machine operation and navigation easy. One touch allows the operator to view the operation at any inspection point and the real-time status of the wafer map. The CS1250 is the fastest chip to tape reel machine in the industry. The machine is designed for continuous operation 365 days a year with a minimum of operator attention, quick change over between products, resulting in the best cost of ownership and most reliable product in the industry.
